The Founders:
Harris & Brun was founded by Lyle G. Harris, Q.C., and Robert C. Brun, Q.C. on July 1, 1984.
Lyle was called to the Bar in 1976 and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel on December 11, 2009. Lyle has conducted over one hundred civil trials and appeals and has been accepted as an expert witness by the Supreme Court of British Columbia, providing opinion evidence on the standard of care of lawyers. Lyle is the author of Discovery Practice in British Columbia, which was initially published in 2009 by Continuing Legal Education British Columbia (“CLEBC”), and he has drafted an annual update since that time. In 2016 Lyle was recognized by CLEBC as a prolific contributor to legal education with over 50 contributions.
Robert was called to the Bar in 1978 and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2004. He has conducted over a hundred trials and appeals, and has successfully appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a leading expert in the application of the statutory worker-worker bar under the Workers Compensation Act. He has been accepted as an expert witness and his opinions on the standard of care of lawyers in malpractice cases have been relied upon in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Robert has served our profession as a Bencher to the Law Society of British Columbia; as well as in several leadership capacities throughout the Canadian Bar Association including as National President from 2012-2013. Robert was recently recognized by CLEBC as a prolific contributor to legal education with over 60 contributions.
