Riordan’s experience as both in-house counsel for a large insurance company and in acting for individual plaintiffs has given him insight into the realities of bringing and defending law suits. He provides reasoned, cost conscious representation to his clients in order to achieve favorable results. While the vast majority of law suits end in settlement, his willingness to proceed to trial to protect and further his client’s interests helps him serve his clients not only in the courtroom, but also in negotiations and pre-trial procedures.

Riordan was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2017. He joined Harris & Brun in February 2019. His practice focuses on insurance and personal injury law, representing both individuals and insurance companies.

After his first year of law school, Riordan gained experience on a large personal injury class action law suit, representing plaintiffs who had suffered from a variety of physical, psychological and emotional abuses. The following summer, Riordan completed his summer articles working in the litigation department of a large insurance company. He then articled with the same insurance company and practiced there as a lawyer for over a year.

Riordan has gained experience successfully representing parties in both the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia, including Small Claims Court. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and insurance matters is important to Riordan, as he believes that effective strategic representation involves an understanding of the other party’s position and point of view.
